An Artist States:
I consider myself an incredibly fortunate person to have spent so much of my life immersed in the academic study and practice of performance. Over the years my interest and values of art have fluctuated, but no matter the ebbs and flows of my creative process one thing has remained true- I live to creatively express earnest, progressive, representation of the human condition utilizing practical aesthetic and authenticity.
I believe there is no end to the truth one can bring to their work as a performer. It is my job as an actor to continue seeking out opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow. I believe that education and technique are a means to safely reach more meaningful art. Teaching and collaborating are key to your own understanding of the work, the artist community is strongest when we combine our talents and individual experiences to create.
A sense of electrifying tension is the result of quality work on stage. When I perform, my understanding and honesty translate into a compelling result of expression. I explore themes of universality as I approach the work, as it is my job to ignite cathartic, empathetic, passionate responses within the public. To engage meaningfully in art is to start a dialogue and question all that is presented. The world I want to live in uses art and performance as a means to heal, initiate self-actualization, and demand action.
